KATHMANDU, Oct 22: Dashain, one of the biggest festivals celebrated in Nepal has already made its entry. Were it not corona time, people in the cities would be returning to their home districts to observe the festival with much fanfare. However, the story this year is entirely different.

Amid the escalating fears of COVID-19 infection, movement of people is nominal. The new buspark area in Gongabu of the capital which used to be chock-a-block with people during this time in the previous years, wears a deserted look.

The ticket counters which are awaiting passengers neither report any huge flow of ticket buyers nor do they receive phone calls for early bookings.

As most people, especially students from out of the Valley are already at their homes in the wake of the nationwide lockdown in March earlier this year, the long-haul buses hardly get their seats packed. At the same time, people are also scared of traveling in public buses owing to the fears of COVID-19 infection.

Here are some photos taken in the New Bus Park area on Thursday afternoon.
