KATHMANDU, May 23:  The country has already witnessed two months of nationwide lockdown enforced on March 24 earlier this year in a bid to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus disease. Except emergencies, all other services and business activities have come to a grinding halt.

Kathmandu has worn a deserted look since the lockdown. Roads are almost empty, security has been tightened and normal life has come to a standstill. After an instruction by the Ministry of Home Affairs to all the local units of the Valley earlier on Thursday, entry to the capital valley has been made stricter.

Kathmandu has reported a rise in COVID-19 cases. People have been coming here from different parts of the country, especially from those districts hit hard by the pandemic.

Here are some photos taken by our photojournalist Dipesh Shrestha on Friday afternoon.
