As the number of people returning to the village during Dashain is increasing, the roads in the valley are deserted. On Saptami and Ashtami of Dashain, the movement of people in the capital was minimal. Public vehicles are rarely seen on the roads.

Kathmandu is deserted as the people return from the city to the villages to celebrate the great festival of Nepali Hindus Bijaya Dashami (Bada Dashain).

The roads of Kathmandu Valley, which are always filled with traffic jams, have now become deserted as the population thins out during this period every year. People and vehicles are seen only sporadically on the streets.

About 1.8 million people have left the valley to celebrate Dashain this year, according to transport entrepreneurs.
