KATHMANDU, Oct 24: A photography exhibition titled "Beautiful Nepal" kicked off at the Wenchang Gallery of Summer Palace in Beijing on Thursday.

The 15-day-long exhibition is aimed at promoting Nepal’s tourism as part of the preparation for Visit Nepal Year 2020, the embassy stated in a press release. The photographs being displayed in the exhibition cover various aspects of Nepal’s natural and cultural heritage, according to the Nepali Embassy in China.

During the opening ceremony, Deputy Chief of Mission at the embassy Sushil Kumar Lamsal highlighted the deepening people-to-people relations between Nepal and China.

He expressed the hope that the exhibition would help the Chinese people to better appreciate Nepal’s tourism attractions. He welcomed Chinese tourists to visit Nepal on the occasion of Visit Nepal Year 2020.

Addressing the event, Su Bensheng, vice-president of Beijing People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (BPAFFC), expressed happiness over co-hosting the exhibition. He hoped that the event would enhance a greater understanding of Nepal among the Chinese people.

The exhibition is jointly organized by Nepali Embassy and Beijing People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, with the support of the Beijing Park Management Center and the Summer Palace. The exhibition will run until November 7.

A vast imperial garden of lakes, gardens, and palaces built during China’s Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), the Summer Palace is a major tourist attraction of Beijing and attracts millions of visitors from around the world every year.
