KATHMANDU, Feb 2: Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun praised the role of photo journalists saying that they had played leading roles in each political movement in the country.
While inaugurating the International Photography and Printing Expo organized by National Forum of Photo Journalists (NFPJ) in Bhrikutimandap in the capital Friday, VP Pun praized the role of photo journalists played to disseminate the fact-based news adding that a single photograph was more powerful than thousands words.
Similarly, Minister for Defense Bhimsen Das Pradhan said that the fact and decent were the synonyms to photo journalism.
Speaking in the same programme, CPN-UML secretary Yogesh Bhattarai shared that the photo journalists has the capacity to change the society.
Likewise, NFPJ chair Dhruba Ale and Federation of Nepalis Journalists (FNJ) Chairman Govinda Acharya said that photo journalism was the mirror of society therefore state should ensure the security of the photo journalists.
Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) Chair Kul Chandra Wagle, Federation of Nepal Printers Association chair Madhav KC among other had expressed their views in the program.
On the occasion, photo journalists Deepak KC, Saroj Bade, Rajesh Gurung and Skanda Gautam were feted with Rs 50,000, Rs 20,000, 15,000 and Rs 50,000 in cash.
There are various instruments and devices related to photography and printings were displayed in the expo. The expo will run until February 4.
