Petrol tanker carrying 12,000 liters bursts into flames after crash

The accident occurred at around 5:30 am today when the tanker, bearing registration number Madhesh Province 03,001 Kha 7811, was travelling from Amlekhgunj in Bara to Sarlahi with a load of petrol.

RAUTAHAT, Aug 6: A petrol tanker carrying 12,000 liters of fuel overturned and caught fire near Dhansar Bridge in Ward 3 of Gujara Municipality, Rautahat, along the East West Mahendra Highway.



The accident occurred at around 5:30 am today when the tanker, bearing registration number Madhesh Province 03001 Kha 7811, was travelling from Amlekhgunj in Bara to Sarlahi with a load of petrol. According to Rajendra Thapa Magar, chief of the Rautahat District Traffic Police Office, the vehicle went out of control, overturned, and immediately caught fire.

The driver managed to escape from the vehicle in time and was rescued unharmed.


No human casualties were reported. Nepal Police, the Armed Police Force, and fire engines were deployed to bring the blaze under control, Traffic Inspector Thapa Magar said.


The accident briefly disrupted traffic along the East-West Highway. Police have launched an investigation into the cause of the crash.
