Persona non grata complaint registered against Indian envoy Rae

KATHMANDU, Dec 5: Hello Sarkar, a public complaint receiving unit at the Prime Minister’s Office, has received a complaint seeking persona non grata against Ranjit Rae, Indian Ambassador to Nepal .

Journalist Ghamaraj Luitel had registered a complaint at the unit through Twitter seeking persona non grata saying that Ambassador Rae’s latest activities are against the interest of Nepal.

“Ambassador to Nepal Ranjit Rae should be charged under persona non grata for his interference in the internal affairs of Nepal, constituting a breach of diplomatic norms,” Luitel twitted.

Initiating the process, Hello Sarkar informed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in writing on the complaint it received on Sunday.

According to Hello Sarkar, a letter with Reference. No.: 4414 has been sent to the Ministery of Foreign Affairs.

Spokesperson at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bharat Poudyal said that the ministry will take ahead the petition filed in Hello Sarkar.

“I haven’t received the file of the petition yet,” he told Republica Online, “We have been promptly taking forward the complaints received from Hello Sarkar.”

Rae has been lobbying to endorse the seven-point constitution amendment bill registered in Parliament that proposes to split five hill districts from Province 5 and grant Hindi as one of the mother tounges in Nepal. The 2011 census shows less than one perrcent of people speak Hindi as their mother tongue..

Rae had urged the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) leaders to vote in favor of the proposed bill over lunch reception organized at Indian Embassy in Kathmandu recently.
