People with COVID-19 to be barred from appearing in PSC exams

PSC releases SOPs for conducting exams for civil servants amid the pandemic

KATHMANDU, Oct 12: The Public Service Commission (PSC) has unveiled the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for conducting the exams for civil service employees that, among others, will restrict those infected with the coronavirus from appearing in the exams.

The restriction will bar thousands of people diagnosed with COVID-19 from competing for government jobs which are considered lucrative in Nepal.

According to the SOPs released by the PSC recently, those taking the examinations of the public service must make self-declaration whether they are infected with the virus or not. Infected examinees shall not enter the examination center, read the SOPs.

The PSC has released the SOPs in the wake of a rise in COVID-19 cases amid its preparation to start the process of recruitment of civil employees including Nepal Police, Nepal Army, Armed Police Force.

According to the SOPs, there will not be more than 100 examinees at each examination center and a maximum of 25 examinees in an exam hall.

The examinees sitting for the exams must wear masks, use hand sanitizers and bring drinking water for themselves and arrive at the exam center an hour before the exam time.

The exams should be conducted by following all health and safety protocols and standards issued by the government.
