KATHMANDU, April 28: Nepali Congress (NC) senior leader Ram Chandra Paudel has lashed out at party President Sher Bahadur Deuba accusing him of not being able to rise above factional politics.

Expressing his views at the party’s Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting, which is underway since March 23, at the central party headquarters in Sanepa, senior leader Paudel came down heavily on President Deuba saying that he is engaged in group politics rather than becoming the president of the entire party.

Recalling a moment when he had urged Deuba to lead the party by rising above factional politics after he was elected party president by the 13th General Convention of the party, Paudel said “The President did not listen to my words as a result of which the party has now been mired in group politics and faced debacle in the local, provincial and federal elections.”

He argued that the party faced a complete defeat in the federal and provincial elections after the leadership failed to steer the party in just, impartial and transparent manner.

Paudel asserted that the party’s condition will further deteriorate if the leadership does not correct its work style immediately by admitting its past mistakes and weaknesses.
