Surpassing the previous record held by Sam Curran, who was acquired by Punjab Kings for Rs 185 million in the previous year's auction, Cummins has now become the highest-paid IPL player of all time.

Cummins played a pivotal role in Australia's success in the World Test Championship 2023 and secured another title in the ODI World Cup in November. His outstanding performance in the ODI WC Final in Ahmedabad included taking the crucial wickets of Shreyas Iyer and Virat Kohli, significantly impacting the Indian innings.
