HUMLA, Nov 5: Simkot airport of Humla has witnessed a large number of passengers in recent days.

The daily flow of passengers to the airport gradually increased as the students reaching their houses from Kathmandu, Surkhet, Nepalgunj and Pokhara with the outbreak of the pandemic started returning to their destination.

Most passengers are students who are off to their destinations outside home district immediately following the celebration of Dashain festival. As schools and examinations are taking place via online after a hiatus of lockdown, and the internet is not working well in Humla, the students are bound to travel outside the district.

According to the Simkot airport, the number of people leaving the district is increasing by the day. More than 50 people are leaving the district via air on a daily basis.

The ongoing construction works at the airport has troubled private airplanes to operate their flights in a full-fledged manner. Passengers also have issues with getting tickets due to limited flights.

Long queue of the passengers leaving for their destinations is usually formed at the gate of the airport.
