KATHMANDU, June 5: A parliamentary panel is to be formed to investigate the killing of Dalit youths in Rukum district.
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Agni Prasad Sapkota said during a meeting of the lower house on Friday that the government will form a parliamentary panel to study and investigate into the caste-based discrimination incident in Rukum.
The panel will be assigned to report to parliament after a detailed investigation into the incident.
The government made the decision to form the investigation panel after parliament members of the main opposition party, the Nepali Congress warned to obstruct the HoR meetings.
The parliamentarians have been urging the government time and again to form a special committee to investigate the Rukum incident.
On May 23, six youths had lost their lives at Chaurjahari, West-Rukum just because of an inter-caste love affair.
