Two complaints were registered against proposed judge Chundal while five against Subedi.
Among five complainants against proposed Justice Subedi, four attended the committee meeting and put forth their views. The meeting discussed thoroughly on the questions raised over capacity and other issues against the proposed judges, according to Chairman Karna.
However, those registering complaints against Chundal did not attend the meeting.
A meeting of the Judicial Council held on March 12 had proposed Chudal and Subedi as the justices of the apex court. While Chudal is currently serving as the chief judge of the high court in Patan, Subedi is serving as the chief judge of the high court in Surkhet.
A simple majority in the parliamentary committee can endorse the nominations made by the Judicial Council. However, a two-thirds majority of lawmakers should support any decision to reject the nomination.
