KATHMANDU, July 2: The Parliamentary committee has directed concerned sides to stop the process to hold International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards, 2019 scheduled to take place in Nepal in the last week of August.

Amidst widespread criticism, the International Relations Committee under the Federal Parliament today directed the government and concerned parties to stop the process as it was motivated to badly influence the national culture and national interest. The agreement draft dealt between Bizzcraft International Private Ltd and government of Nepal to allow organizing the program in Nepal was against the national prestige, national freedom and national independence.

The meeting has also concluded that the amount to be provided by the Government of Nepal was unexpectedly high and inappropriate. Secretary of the committee, Suraj Kumar Dura shared that the meeting has also decided to ask for the details of the program from the government.
