KATHMANDU, May 17: The parliament meeting scheduled for 11 this morning has been delayed after the main opposition party, Nepali Congress, demanded time to address the assembly.

Speaker Devraj Ghimire has started a discussion with the chief whip of the party as there was no agreement between the ruling parties and the opposition parties regarding the smooth resumption of parliament.

After the discussion with the speaker, there is a preparation to hold a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee.

The meeting, initially set for Thursday afternoon, was rescheduled for 11 AM Friday amidst chaos and scuffles between ruling and opposition parties.

Currently, members of both ruling and opposition parties are in discussion.

During Thursday’s meeting, Nepali Congress picketed the rostrum as Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire initiated the session.

Tensions escalated after Speaker Ghimire granted time to Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane, leading to a scuffle between lawmakers from the two sides.
