KATHMANDU, May 9: Federal Parliament has approved National Medical Education Ordinance 2075 by majority. A meeting of the House of Representatives passed the Ordinance through majority which was proposed by Minister for Education Giriraj Mani Pokharel.
Lawmaker Prem Suwal from Nepal Workers and Pageants Party (NWPP) voted against the Ordinance saying that it would be illogical not to grant affiliations to medical, dental and nursing colleges for ten years.
Demanding endorsement of the medical education ordinance, senior orthopedic surgeon Dr Govinda KC had been staging fast-unto-death from time to time.
Deuba-led government had issued a Medical Education Ordinance to fulfill Dr KC’s demands.
