KATHMANDU, Nov 7: Parijat Youth Club and Pragitishil Youth Club have made it to the semifinals of the Third TAAN Martyrs Memorial Football Tournament being held at Baruneshwar in Okhaldhunga.
In the matches played on Monday afternoon, Parijat edged past Panchakanya Youth Club 3-1. Coming from a goal down, Parijat netted all three goals within a span of three minutes.
Panchakanya opened the scoring in the 28th minute as Dhiraj Rai achieved the target. But the lead lasted only four minutes as Anil cancelled the lead in the 32nd minute. Rabi Rai added another a minute later and Roshan Rai sealed the victory in the 35th minute.
Similarly, in another quarterfinal match, Pragatishil registered a 5-3 win over Adarsh Youth Club A in tiebreaker after a goalless draw in the regulation time. All five penalty takers converted for Pragatishil while two players of Adarsh failed to convert.
The event is being organized by Trekking Agencies' Association of Nepal (TAAN) as part of youth development program in major trekking areas of the country.
