GORKHA, Sept 6: Parents have enforced a shutdown of Manjushree Secondary School located at Kashigaun VDC at the northern part of Gorkha to protest no-shows from teachers who left the village to attend the examinations of Teacher Service Commission.
Teacher Guardian Association Chairman Lum Prasad Gurung led group on Sunday padlocked the school. The school's teachers had left for the district headquarters on August 23 to take part in the exam held by the Commission.
The teachers had agreed to resume the school from August 31 but only six teachers have arrived out of the total of 12.
School Principal, Raj Kumar Shrestha, is yet to come into contact, local resident Ash Bahadur Ghale, said, adding the school is in chaos. "The students go to the school and return after playing all day," he said.
District Education Officer (DEO) Dipendra Subedi said he would seek clarification with the teachers who are still absent. RSS
