KATHMANDU, Sept 19: A peace rally was organized in the capital on Friday morning on the occasion of Constitution Day. The rally, which started from Maitighar in Kathmandu, passed through Bhadrakali, Shahid Gate, Tripureshwor and Thapathali, before returning to Maitighar, where it concluded with a gathering.
The event, organized by the Professional Alliance for Peace and Democracy (PAPAD), saw the participation of people from different walks of lives including constitutional experts, journalists, lawyers, human rights activists, teachers and intellectuals. Participants carried placards with slogans such as “Protect the Constitution,” “Ensure Good Governance” and “Establish Peace.”

Constitution Day is observed in remembrance of the promulgation of Nepal’s Constitution on Ashoj 3, 2072 BS. Rally participants emphasized the need to amend and improve the constitution in line with the times.
On the same day, the main Constitution Day program was held at the Tundikhel, under the presence of President Ramchandra Paudel, the interim government Prime Minister Sushila Karki and other dignitaries.
