Forest land continues to shrink 'for resettlement'
According to the ministry, the committee has been tasked with identifying the actual details of families whose houses and land were damaged by the floods and who were displaced, those for whom continuing to live in their existing locations is unsafe, and those who remain in affected areas despite the risks.
The committee will submit a report to the ministry with clear recommendations covering the identification of affected families, selection of land required for their resettlement, field studies, preliminary disaster risk assessments and the legal procedures required for temporary accommodation.
The committee will collect and verify details of flood-affected families in coordination with the concerned local levels. Land required for resettlement will be identified with the support of the respective local levels, district land administration offices and survey offices.
