Made In Pakistan Expo kicks off

KATHMANDU, Sept 22: The '7th Made in Pakistan Exhibition' kicked off at the United World Trade Center in Kathmandu from Thursday.

The weeklong event is being organized by the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry with the slogan 'Rebuild Nepal'.

The expo has 57 stalls showcasing Pakistani products like handicraft items, leather items and readymade garments as well as Pakistani delicacies.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the organizers said that they set the slogan 'Rebuild Nepal' to support the country which was struck by a massive earthquake last year. "This will disseminate positive message to the world and will help to promote tourism industry of the country," they added.

The exhibition aims to promote Pakistani products in Nepal and also build relationship between traders of both the countries. It is the biggest trade event between the two countries, according to the organizers

The Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry organizes has been organizing 10 to 15 such exhibitions annually in countries like USA, UAE and SAARC countries to promote Pakistani products. It is organizing another exhibition in Kathmandu on November 25-29. Similarly, it is also planning to organize SAARC Exhibition in March/April 2017.

The organizers have invited Nepali traders to organize similar exhibition in Pakistan to promote Nepali products. Nepal imports products like footwear, spices and dry foods, among others, from Pakistan, while it exports products like tea, herbal products, big cardamom etc to its South Asian neighbor. Nepal exports goods worth Rs 47 billion to Pakistan, while it imports products worth Rs 270 billion from Pakistan.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Pakistani ambassador to Nepal Majar Zaved wished for the grand success of the Event.
