KATHMANDU, Dec 24: The chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), Rishikesh Pokharel has sent a letter to the school where his wife Anjala Koirala teaches for an extension of work leave. Koirala is absconding in the fraud case of Umagouri Agricultural Cooperative Society in Morang.
Koirala is a teacher at Birat Mahendra Ratri Secondary School. PAC Chairman Pokharel has sent the application in the wife’s name to the principal of the school, Jhank Nath Parajuli.
Koirala took leave from the school after a case was filed against 26 people including her as defendants on charges of co-operative. Her leave ended on Friday (December 20). Principal Parajuli said that the leave application had come through Rishikesh Pokharel on behalf of Anjala Koirala.

The former president of Dhanpalthan Rural Municipality-4, Roshan Rajbanshi, who was made a defendant in this case, is currently in prison.
The Morang District Court had issued summons against absconding 25 individuals in connection with criminal cases. After the summons was issued, Koirala had taken a five-day leave on December 16. After this leave ended on Friday, PAC Chair Pokharel himself submitted an application on behalf of his wife at the school.
A case was filed on December 12 against Koirala, Rangeli-2 Ward President Santa Lal Khawas, President Shambhu Prasad Rauniyar and others in the cooperative fraud case.
The District Government Attorney Office, Morang, has demanded the recovery of Rs 224.82 million from the 26 defendants in the cooperative fraud case.
