KATHMANDU, Sept 11: Terence Tse, a citizen of Hong Kong and the owner of Waldo Casino, who had been on the run in connection with a gold smuggling case has been arrested in Nepal. The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of the Nepal Police apprehended him and presented him before the district court on Wednesday. The CIB alleges that Waldo Casino was used for money laundering and gold smuggling operations. A case has been filed against Tse and 60 other individuals linked to the casino. CIB had previously investigated the casino two years ago.

CIB spokesperson SP Hobindra Bogati said that Tse was arrested at the casino and presented before the district court for further legal proceedings. During the investigation, it was revealed that Yau Puching, a Chinese national involved in the gold-smuggling network, had transferred $52,000 abroad through the casino. Additionally, Dawajin Wang and Dawa Tsering were reported to have also funneled money through the casino.
The smuggling network reportedly used the casino to create gambling IDs, deposit funds, and then withdraw the money from another casino in Hong Kong without engaging in gambling. Several individuals involved in the smuggling operation stayed in private rooms at Casino Waldo, where gold smuggling deals were allegedly struck.
