Dear Sadichha,

I have been talking with a guy for two days. I’ve come to know that he is interested to talk to me as well. It was going good, but last night he asked me my age and I told that I was older than him. My age seems to have bothered him, as he suddenly started talking differently and distantly. I am very much depressed regarding because of what happened. I can’t think what to do further. Should I talk to him? I am confused; I hope you will help me with this.

Yes, you should talk to him to ask him if your age that is bothering him. If he says yes, then stop talking to him. Would you really want to be friends with someone who is bothered just because a girl is elder than him? Don’t be depressed. It is such a small issue; not at all worth wasting your precious time. So, ask him frankly and get over it. He might also just have been surprised by how young you look for your age.  Trust me, you will find people in the future who will value you for who you are, how you are and not how many birthdays you have celebrated.

Dear Sadichha,

I am a 22-year-old guy studying engineering in Kathmandu. I have been making short movies for two years, and now I’m passionate about filmmaking. Since I have started earning through filmmaking I feel like dropping engineering and continuing filmmaking full-time. I have no idea what to tell my parents at home. I seek your suggestions. Please help.

I am happy that your passion is also helping you generate income.  However, don’t hurry into this decision of changing your profession and dropping engineering altogether. I don’t know how many years you have dedicated to engineering, but if you graduate in a couple of years then I request you to work extra hard as well as continue this passion of yours. I know this might seem very challenging, but nothing is impossible. So, why don’t you continue with your studies and explore filmmaking simultaneously? Look out for workshops or training that can help you gain more knowledge on filmmaking. Also, use your free time to make more short films. Once you are done with your engineering then you can decide your next step.

Dear Sadichha,

I am a 32-year-old woman currently working in Dubai. It has been 8 years since our marriage. 5 years back I visited Nepal to spend time with my family but soon returned to Dubai. I don’t know how true it is but it’s been a couple of months since I have been hearing rumors about my husband that he is having an extramarital affair. I am sad because he was the one who I trusted the most. I also have asked him about it. He denies it and I feel helpless to know what the real truth is. I feel low and upset what would you suggest me on this?

Do you trust what your husband says? You should know him better than the people spreading these rumors. If you believe in your husband then forget about this but if you have a gut feeling inside that something is not right then have someone you trust to look into this matter. Maybe your family members or close friends? Being away from family and your husband must worry you a lot. However, do not listen to what people have to say, it’s just their opinion. And trust me, if you keep listening and believing in what everyone says you will never be able to have a peaceful life! People might be talking and spreading rumors and it might not be true at all. So, don’t be sad without even knowing the truth. However, if you do come to find out that he is having an affair, I hope you take the right decision to not go back to someone who doesn’t value a relationship and betrays your trust.

Dear Sadichha,

I am a 25-year-woman. I have completed my BSW and right now engaged with an NGO in Kathmandu. I am doing quite well here, but I feel insecure at times. My friends have started getting proper works in their comfort zone, but I’m stuck here with no further progress. I am worried about my career very much, and I can think nothing positive. Please help! How can I come out if this?

Don’t compare yourself with anyone as no two human beings are the same. We all have different characteristics and different circumstances to deal with. If you are doing well in your work and are happy, there is no need to be insecure. Everyone worries about their future, its natural but we have no control over the future and stressing about it, is not going to make it better. All we can do is focus on our goals and work hard to achieve them. So, don’t worry too much it will just do more bad than good. Learn to relax and take each day as it comes. Life is not a race against anyone else. Enjoy this journey with as less stress and as much happiness as you can.
