BIRGUNJ, April 4: Crops and fruits worth more than Rs 5 million were destroyed in the massive storm in Bara district, according to the Agriculture Knowledge Centre, Bara. The storm hit some parts of Bara and Parsa districts on Sunday evening killing 29 people and injuring hundreds of others.
Crops farming in over 2,200 bighas of land at Pheta Bhuluhi rural municipality-1, Bharawaliya, Tribeni-5, Gamhariya-6, Purainiya, Balirampur, Phulbariya, Rampurwa of Devtal rural municipality, Telkuwa, Belauli, Prashurampur of Subarna rural municipality, Hardiya, Jamuniya, Chamohana, Telkuwa of Gadhimai rural municipality, Buniyad of Parawanipur rural municipality, Rampur, Tokani, Lipanimal, Chainpur, Bahuwari, Benauli of Pachrauta rural municipality and Sakuwat were destroyed in the disaster, said agriculture officer Ram Jiban Thakur. Livestock valued at more than 3.5 million were killed in the disaster in the districts, it has been estimated. RSS
