One who makes madal

Bikash Lama, 28, is from Kulekhani. He has been making madals for over five years. For some, it is a way of making music . For others, it is profession. For him, making madal has been a mixture of creating good music and a profession as well. " I started playing madal when I was 17.

Bikash Lama, 28, is from Kulekhani. He has been making madals for over five years. For some, it is a way of making music . For others, it is profession. For him, making madal has been a mixture of creating good music and a profession as well. " I started playing madal when I was 17. When I first came to Kathmandu, I worked at a hotel .After working there for three years, I ended up making madals with my friends. I knew how to play madal. Now I can make it too. I used to play at pubs," said Bikash. Bikash quit formal education at an early age. His creativity and proffession lies in making madal. For him it is not just a form of work.
