KATHMANDU, Jan 23: Police on Tuesday resorted to firing to arrest a suspected criminal in a hotel in Gongabu. A team of police personnel from the Metropolitan Police Range Office (MPRO), Kathmandu, shot Abilash Tamang, 30, of Bansakharka Rural Municipality, Kavre, on his left leg at 5:20 pm on Tuesday, after he allegedly pointed a gun at the police team.

“Acting on a tip-off from the operator of Hotel Luck Private Limited of Gongabu, the police team had rounded up the hideout of the suspect,” Spokesperson of MPRO, Kathmandu, DSP Hobindra Bogati told Republica, adding, “The hotel operators had suspected that Tamang was carrying weapons.”
