One killed, six injured in bus accident caused by landslide

NAWALPARASI, September 25: A person was killed while six others were injured after a bus fell off a hill due to landslide in Nawalparasi. The incident occurred in Binayi Triveni Rural Municipality-7 where the bus fell off the road above Bishwakarma Temple in Daunne village.

The deceased has been identified as Harish Chandra KC, 25, of Aathbiskot Rural Municipality-10 of Rukum. According to Mohan Bahadur Khand, Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Nawalpur, KC died while undergoing treatment last night at Bharatpur Medical College.

The bus (registration number Na 5 Kha 7940), headed east from west, fell about 30 feet down the road on Thursday evening due to a landslide. Six other people were injured critically and are undergoing treatment at Bharatpur Medical College. The bus was carrying a total of 18 passengers.

Meanwhile, the stretch of the road in Daunne village has been closed since 7 AM on Thursday. The road has not been fully operational yet. According to DSP Khand, the road was operational until last night after clearing the landslide debris. However, a second landslide that struck the same road at 3 AM this morning has damaged the road and halted vehicular movement.
