One killed in Khukuri attack in Rupandehi

BUTWAL, Oct 4: Ravi Singh, an Indian worker at a plywood factory in Shuddhodhan 3, Pharsatikar, Rupandehi, attacked and killed his coworker Awadhesh Harijan, 22, of Susta Rural Municipality-3 in West Nawalparasi, with a khukuri.

According to police, Awadhesh's father Gopi Chand Harijan was also injured in the attack. Singh attacked Awadhesh and his father Gopal Chand with a khukuri when a fight broke out between them after consuming alcohol.

Awadhesh, who was critically injured, died on the way to the hospital, according to police. Another injured Gopal Chand is undergoing treatment at Lumbini Provincial Hospital, Butwal. Similarly, Ravi Singh, is also undergoing treatment at the same hospital according to DSP Satyanarayan Thapa of the District Police Office, Rupandehi.

According to other employees, Singh used to sleep alone but that night Awadesh and his other friends came over to sleep. However, instead of sleeping, they started making noise and there was a fight between Singh and Awadesh.

Further investigation into the incident is currently underway.
