RAMECHHAP, May 11: One house was reduced to cinders after it caught fire in Umakunda Rural Municipality of Ramechhap district on Wednesday.
The house belonging to Chhewang Sherpa, a local of Bamtibhandar, Deurali in Umakunda Rural Municipalicity of Ramechhap, was gutted in the blaze that started at 8 pm Wednesday night.
The locals prevented the fire from spreading to other houses by dousing it immediately.
All the salvageable items including ornaments and food items were destroyed in the incident. However, the magnitude of the damage caused by the fire is yet to be estimated.
The house might have caught fire after the fire used to cook food was left without being doused, said locals.
According to locals, police personnel from Area Police Office, Bamti will be visiting the incident site tomorrow for conducting a probe into the fire incident.
