SIRAHA, Aug 26: Police arrested a man from Budhaura border point on the charge of smuggling alcohol from Nepal to India on Monday.
According to Siraha police chief Superintendent of Police (SP) Uma Prasad Chaturvedi, Balram Yadav, 40, a resident of Siraha-15 was arrested while he was heading to Bihar, India carrying ninety cartons of liquor packed in eighteen sacks on his head. He was then handed over to customs office at Madra.
He is considered to be the head of the liquor smuggling gang after the Bihar government banned alcoholic items.
Following the ban, police had earlier seized a van (HR 661487) on August 10 when it was carrying illegal alcohol.
