KOHALPUR, Aug 31: A youth, who was staying at a Kohalpur-based hotel in Banke district, has been found dead. Bikash Rai, 30, who was staying at Poplife Hotel, Kohalpur-11, with his friends, was found dead, apparently due to excessive consumption of alcohol.

Police also found one of his friends, Pawan Shrestha, in an unconscious state. According to DSP Suresh Prasad Kafle of Area Police Kohalpur, "Their death was most probably caused by excessive consumption of alcohol and drugs intake." Four youths had booked two rooms in the hotel for Tuesday night.

The police have detained two youths - Ishwor Thapa of Surkhet, Birendranagar-18 and Prashant Shakya of Nepalgunj-13, who were staying with Rai, for investigation. Rai, who was rushed to Kohalpur-based Nepalgunj Medical College, breathed his last in the course of treatment this morning while Shrestha is being treated at the same hospital. A preliminary investigation of the police shows that they might have been drug addicts.
