A nine-member team of security personnel, including police and armed police personnel, that reached the village Friday morning detained Lalit Bahadur Rai on suspicion of his involvement in the murder.[break]
Rai´s house is a located at a 15-minute walking distance from the house where the murder took place.
Though the police have not found the weapon used in the murder, they suspect the use of a khukuri knife given the nature of wounds present on the bodies of the deceased. Police grew suspicious of Rai while interrogating him as a neighbor.
Keshar Bahadur Magar, 45, who worked as a laborer, his 40-year old wife Harkamaya and two teenage daughters -- 10-year-old Ranju and six-year-old Premi --were found dead at their house Thursday morning.
Keshar´s son Netra Bahadur, who was found critically injured, was taken to Katari and then to BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences for treatment on Friday, according to Chief District Officer Bir Bahadur Rai.
The dead bodies have been taken to Katari for post-mortem, according to District Police Office.
Magar´s two other daughters Kumari and Manju survived as they were not in the house. Kumari was staying in Katari, while Manju was sleeping in a neighbor´s house.
