One arrested with huge cache of Buddha Chitta beads and seeds

KATHMANDU, June 29: A man on a charge of possessing Buddha Chitta was arrested by police from Swayambhunath area in Kathmandu on Sunday. 

The arrested man has been identified as Saroj Timalsina, a resident of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-15.

A team of police personnel from the Metropolitan Police Circle Office in Swayambhu arrested him with more than 30 kilograms Of Buddha Chitta acting on tip-off received by the police.

The Buddha Chitta seized by police personnel from Timalsina includes 11.70 kilograms of Buddha Chitta beads and 24 kilograms of seeds. The Buddha Chitta seeds are considered sacred by Buddhists. It has a great value in foreign markets.

Police said an investigation against the arrested person is currently underway.
