One arrested with 5.6 kg of silver ornaments

PARSA, Jan 7: Police arrested a person at Rajat Jayanti Chowk at Birgunj on Friday night in illegal possession of 5.615 kilo grams of silver ornaments.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of police mobilized by the District Police Office (DPO), Parsa held Sonar Sawar of Birgunj Sub-Metropolitan City-3 in Parsa district while he was trying to smuggle the ornaments from India to Nepal in his motorcycle.

Police have impounded the vehicle and nabbed Sawar for further investigation into the case, said Superintendent of Police (SP) Govinda Kumar Shah. The seized ornaments include 153 sets of boxes used to store vermillion powder.

Meanwhile, the DPO, Parsa has seized various goods worth more than Rs 20 million that were about to be smuggled into Nepal from neighboring town in India is the last Nepali month of Mangshir, said SP Shah. RSS
