KATHMANDU, Sep 30: Police on Tuesday arrested Durga Bahadur Shrestha, 44, on the charge of looting a Nepali migrant worker by holding him hostage in Malaysia.
According to the Nepal Police, Shrestha, a permanent resident of Morang district, kidnapped a Nepali national working in Malaysia, and held him hostage for seven days apparently to extort money for his release. The alleged victim is the permanent resident of Dang district in Western Nepal.

Shrestha, who has been running Nela Corner Canteen at Top Globe Company in Malaysia, was arrested from Maharajgunj in Kathmandu district.
Acting on a special tip-off, a team of police personnel from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CIB) nabbed Shrestha from Kathmandu when he was here on a vacation. Police arrested him when he was travelling in a car with the registration number Ba 14 Cha 2112.
The arrested had kidnapped the Nepali citizen and looted 1.5 million. He had threatened the victim to kill his wife if the ransom amount was not paid, according to police.
Police said further investigation into the case is underway.
