One arrested in Nepal with around 1 kg gold stolen from India’s Bangalore

NEPALGUNJ, May 3: Police have nabbed a person with around one kilogramme of gold from Khajura of Banke.  

According to the District Police Office, Banke, Ashok Bahadur Singh, 28, of Pimi of Jay Prithvi Municipality-1 in Bajhang district was arrested with gold from Subedi Chowk of Khajura Rural Municipality-2.  

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Madhu Sudan Neupane said that a joint police team deployed from Area Police Office, Dhanauli, and Police Post, Radhapur, held Singh while he was walking in a suspicious manner. 

Police found different types of gold ornaments including necklace, rings, nose pins, bracelets, and earrings while checking a black bag Singh was carrying. The seized gold ornaments have a market value of around Rs 6.2 million. 

DSP Neupane further said that as per the preliminary investigation, the ornaments were stolen from a jewelry shop in Bangalore, India on April 17. 

Necessary investigation into the matter is underway in collaboration with Indian Police, according to DSP Neupane. 

The identity of the owners of the ornaments has been kept secret because it may affect the investigation and other persons involved in the case have not been arrested yet, police said.
