On the way from Hanumandhoka to Ratnapark (Photo Feature)

KATHMANDU

Hanumandhoka, Ason, Indrachowk and Ratnapark wore a deserted look on Thursday due to the week-long prohibitory orders imposed by the local administration in the Kathmandu Valley in order to break the chain of transmission of the second wave of COVID-19.

Nepal recorded as many as 4,928 new cases and 35 deaths related to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.

On the first day of restriction on movement since the second COVID-19 wave hit the country, these places seemed eerie. These areas are known for their vibrancy and bustling environment from early morning to late evening.

However the scenario was different which will likely continue till the prohibitory orders are lifted. Nevertheless, there were those who continued their duties, children were playing without any care on the empty roads.

It seemed as if the empty roads were also taking a break and breathing in peace. Then, there were those taking advantage of this break — playing, washing and taking deep naps on the road side.
