#COVID-19 in Province 2

On average, four people died of COVID-19 a day in past one week

1,386 new cases recorded in past one week

LAHAN, Sept 1: Four individuals including a four years old girl died of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Province 2 on Monday, according to the Ministry of Social Development of the Province.

A 40-year-old man from Yamunamai Municipality-3 of Rautahat, an 80-year-old man from Birgunj Metropolitan City-24, and a 62-year-old woman from Jaleshwor Municipality-1 succumbed to COVID-19.

In the past one week alone, as many as 28 individuals have succumbed to COVID-19 infection in Province 2. Of the 28 death cases, 22 were registered in the past four days.

Mahottari district has recorded the highest number of deaths in the Province, with eight cases of death reported in the last one week. The number stands at six each in Parsa and Bara, four in Siraha and one each in Dhanusha and Saptari districts.

So far, 10 people in Mahottari, 34 in Parsa, seven in Siraha, 13 in Bara, 12 in Dhanusha and six in Saptari and three others in Sarlahi districts have died of COVID-19. With this, the COVID-19 death toll of Province 2 has reached 90 as of Monday.

Likewise, the Province has witnessed 1,386 new cases of COVID-19 in the past one week. So far, 10,218 cases of COVID-19 have been recorded in the district. Similarly, 4,937 COVID-19 patients have recovered successfully and some 9,399 swab samples have been collected for COVID-19 tests.
