Veteran actor Om Puri and wife Nandita have decided to end their 26-year-long marriage.
Om and Nandita's differences came out in the open just before Nandita launched the actor's biography titled 'Unlikely Hero: The Story of Om Puri'.
In the book, Nandita had gone on to expose Om's sexual relationship with his maid at the age of 14 and another sexual relationship with a woman who was the caretaker of his old father.
Om took offence to this, as he felt that the biography sullied his image in front of his fans and because he felt that she betrayed his trust.
In 2013, Nandita had filed a complaint against Om Puri at the Versova Police Station alleging that the actor beat her with a stick and hurled abuses at her.
A court order last week granted Om Puri and Nandita a judicial separation, as reported by DNA. This decree in law gives the couple liberty to go separate ways whilst remaining lawfully married.
However, the only restriction imposed on the interaction between the two is that they cannot meet without the presence of a third party. The court has given Om Puri visiting rights to his 18-year-old son, Ishaan.
