KATHMANDU, June 16: CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has directed the newly-elected people's representatives at the local level from the party to carry out activities as a servant not to break the people's trust and responsibilities.

Inaugurating the two-day training and orientation program organized by the CPN-UML Central School Department in Kathmandu today, former Prime Minister Oli urged the people's representatives to serve the people as their servant, not try to be their boss.

"You are no longer a common person now, after winning the election. People watch you at every step. Don't allow any weaknesses in the course of serving the people based on the party's guidance and ideology," he said.

The UML chair requested the party cadres not to be disappointed as the CPN-UML has received the highest number of popular votes though it did not get the expected results in the local-level elections.

He also urged all to involve themselves in different activities related to election as the federal and provincial elections are coming closer.

The Central School Department has organized the orientation for mayors, deputy mayors, chairpersons and vice-chairperson of rural municipalities and chairpersons and vice-chairpersons of the District Coordination Committees elected from the CPN-UML through the local-level elections held on May 13.

UML General-Secretary Shankar Pokhrel, Deputy General Secretary Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, Central Accounts Commission of the UML, Dr Pushpa Raj Kandel, among others would impart training on the issue of relation between party and local-level people's representatives, budget and programs formulation and effective implementation of such programs.
