KATHMANDU, Sept 27: It is seen that there will be a competition between Min Bahadur Shahi and Gulab Jung Shah for the Karnali Province Chairmanship of the CPN-UML.

Shahi of Kalikot and Shah of Salyan have prepared to register nominations for the post of chairman. Nomination registration will be held on Friday.

A community radio operator, Karnali development scholar and a member of the planning commission, Shahi is a member of UML's province committee, while Shah is a member of UML's politburo.

UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli inaugurated the session on Wednesday. There is a program to discuss the political report of the province on Thursday.

After the opening session on Wednesday, Chairman Oli instructed Shahi to be made the chairman of Karnali Province and to hold a unanimous vote in his name.

However, a source says that the possibility of being elected unanimously as the provincial chairman of the party has almost disappeared after standing committee member Yamlal Kandel said that the decision of the province will be made by the province itself and Gulabjung Shah will be nominated. Kandel was earlier in-charge of UML's Karnali region.

In the latest reshuffle, the party made him the Dailekh in-charge.

Now Lekhraj Bhatt is in charge of Karnali. Even though Kandel has been in Oli's panel for a long time in the party, he has recently been saying that the party chairman is neglecting him.
