OHCHR chief Pillay arrives

KATHMANDU, March 18: Chief of the United Nations Office of High Commissioner for Human Rights Navanethem Pillay arrived in Kathmandu Wednesday on a four-day visit. Pillay is scheduled to meet President Dr Ram Baran Yadav, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, other government officials and representatives of various civil society groups to take stock of the human rights situation in Nepal.



Pillay was appointed UN High Commissioner for Human Rights by the UN General Assembly in July. She has become the fifth High Commissioner for Human Rights since the office was created in 1993.
