Assistant Attorney​​ Thapa caught red-handed with bribe in Pokhara

The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has arrested Assistant Attorney at the District Prosecutor’s Office in Kaski, Surendra Thapa, when he was taking a bribe of Rs 5, 00000 from a service seeker, on Wednesday. Based on a tip-off, a team of the anti-graft body caught red-handed Thapa at his office premises when he was taking bribes, the spokesperson at the CIAA regional office based in Pokhara, Ramesh Dhakal, told Republica. 

Bangladesh court hands life sentence to acting opposition party chief over 2004 blasts

Bangladesh court on Wednesday sentenced Tarique Rahman, the acting chairman of the opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) to life in jail, and 19 more to death, over a plot to assassinate Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in 2004, lawyers said. The opposition is in disarray ahead of general elections set for December, with Rahman trying to run its campaign from exile in London after his mother and party leader, former premier Khaleda Zia, was jailed on corruption charges in February.

3 held for defrauding 45 people with Job promises in Russia

The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police has arrested three people on the charge of duping 45 innocent people of Rs 4,511,000 by promising them jobs in Russia. The trio collected Rs 100,000 to 200,000 from Russian job aspirants by showing them a fake demand letter requiring 83 candidates for an agriculture farm, according to a press statement issued by Nepal Police.

Dhading Police prohibits heavy vehicles for a week along Narayangadh-Nagdhunga road

In light of Dashain festival, the District Police Office, Dhading has prohibited heavy vehicles to ply along the Nagdhunga-Naubise road for a week, according to SP Dambar BK. "To ease passengers heading to their destinations, we've halted vehicular movements from Chitwan itself," BK said.

China to sell unmanned, strike-capable drones to Pakistan

China has agreed to sell a batch of military-grade drones to Pakistan just days after India signed a multi-billion-dollar arms deal with Russia in defiance of US warnings against military transactions with Moscow. Pakistan's air force said Islamabad and Beijing will jointly produce 48 Wing Loong II UCAVs - unmanned combat aerial vehicles manufactured by China's  Chengdu Aircraft Industry Group.
