NWPP demands declaring Nagarkot as watershed area

BHAKTAPUR, Jan 29: A delegation comprising Nepal Workers and Peasants Party (NWPP) Secretary and lawmaker Prem Suwal and Bhaktapur Municipality Chief Sunil Prajapati on Friday held meeting with Minister for Forest and Environment Minister Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav and Secretary of Ministry of Agriculture Dr Govinda Prasad Sharma to put forth various demands of Bhaktapur district. 

Lawmaker Suwal demanded the Forest Minister Yadav to increase the source of drinking water by declaring the area of drinking water source in Nagarkot of Changu Narayan Municipality as a reservoir area, declare Chonga Ganesh Temple complex in Sallaghari of Bhaktapur Municipality as a cultural heritage site and provide necessary budget for the protection of Navdurga Peeth in Bhaktapur. 

During the meeting, Minister for Forests Yadav said that necessary assistance would be provided for the protection and promotion of public places in Bhaktapur.

The delegation also held a separate meeting with Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture Dr Govinda Prasad Sharma and demanded timely supply of adequate chemical fertilizers to farmers at affordable prices. 

Secretary Dr. Sharma said that the ministry would take initiative to provide the required amount of chemical fertilizer to Bhaktapur as the ministry is working to ensure management of the required fertilizer as per the demand of the farmers.
