KATHMANDU, May 19: The Nagarik Unmukti Party (NUP) has withdrawn the Nepal Banda (general strike) announced to be held for five days starting from May 20.
Five parties become part of federal government
Senior vice chairman of the party Damodar Pandit issued a statement on Friday saying that all the strike planned by NUP have been withdrawn. The announcement comes in the wake of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal tabling a bill to make public the report of the High-Level Probe Commission in the parliament.
In the statement issued by NUP, it is stated, "From the side of the government, Prime Minister announced in the parliament that the criminal bill in which the report of the 'High-level Probe Commission' will be published in the house has been tabled in the parliament, including the promise to release the prisoners even in case the law is amended. Because of this, the Nepal Banda program has been postponed until further notice.”
