On the occasion of launching the portal, NTB's chief executive officer Deepak Raj Joshi said it was aimed at digital promotion of tourism in the country. "With the commencement of #photoNepal platform, a new chapter has started for the promotion of tourism," he said.

The NTB has been organizing #photoNepal campaign regularly since the last four years. Photos from those campaigns are also showcased in the website. The photos focus on portraying the natural beauty, culture, heritage, and traditions of Nepal.

Any individual can sign up and upload pictures in the website, which need to be approved by the NTB.

"On the one hand, it will strengthen digital network, and on the other, it will provide a platform for individual to showcase their pictures," said Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation Yogesh Bhattarai.

"The photographs will be well protected by copyright laws," mentioned a press release issued by the board.
