KATHMANDU, April 8: Finance Minister Janardan Sharma has revealed that he had received information that a member of the Board of Directors of Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) had bargained for the release of millions of US dollars from the account of Prithvi Bahadur Shah of Achham.
Speaking at a program on 'National Conference on Economics and Finance' organized by NRB on Friday, Minister Sharma said that a member of the Board of Directors of Rashtra Bank had demanded USD 30,000 to clear millions of dollars from the US which was received into the account of Prithvi Bahadur Shah of Achham. He also accused high-ranking officials of the NRB of leaking confidential information to the media. He said that such things should be resolved by the top officials of NRB.
Furthermore, Minister Sharma demanded the NRB to submit a record of the number and other details of Letter of Credit (LC) accounts opened in the banks in the last 15 days.
