KATHMANDU, Nov 10: People can now buy gold and silver Asarfis (99.99 percent purity) by using QR code with Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) allowing payment for the bullion purchase through the system.
Issuing a public notice on Thursday, the NRB introduced the provision. As of now, the central bank has been exchanging the souvenir coins only against cash payment.
Similarly, the NRB has also permitted exchanging coins with denominations of Re 1 and Rs 2 by payment through the QR code system.
