APF thrashed Mid-western Region 19-0 in the first round match of the knockout football tournament on Tuesday morning. Sanjana Rana stole the show with a five-goal haul while Anu Lama, Laxmi Paudel, Pramila Rai and Anita Basnet scored a hat-trick each for the departmental team in the match played at the ground of Nepal Army headquarters. Renuka Nagarkoti and Sapana Rai also added a goal each to seal a comprehensive victory. [break]
Similarly, national women´s team midfielder Niru Thapa scored a double hat-trick in NPC´s 13-0 victory over Central Region in the second match of the day. Chandra Bhandari and Rupa Magar netted two goals each for the National Women´s League champion. Sapana Thebe, Yashoda Lama and Indira Kunwar were also on the scoresheet.
Host Nepal Army will meet Far-western Region in the first semifinal while NPC will lock horns with APF in the second semifinal on Wednesday.
The final of the tournament will be played on Thursday.
